This website describes benefits offered by the UFCW Local 1776 and Participating Employers Legal Trust Fund (“the Fund”). The Fund was established through collective bargaining between the UFCW Local 1776 KS and various contributing employer. The website is designed to acquaint you with important provisions of the Plan.  However, you may or may not be eligible for all benefits listed on this website.

Plan Eligibility

​

The Legal Services Plan is a benefit offered to certain UFCW Local 1776 KS members.  Eligibility and other terms for the legal benefit vary.  Depending on your employer, your eligibility for the plan may differ by store, hours (full or part time), seniority, or other factors.  If you are employed full-time, the plan may also cover your spouse and minor children.  To determine whether you or your family are covered, please call the Fund Office or Lauria Law LLC at (215) 461-4610.

Lauria Law LLC also provides legal services to members of UFCW Local 1776 KS who are not covered by the Fund at a discounted hourly rate.  The firm’s personal injury lawyers receive a contingent fee in certain cases upon recovery that is competitive with other law firms for the services provided.

Covered Services

​

The legal services plan covers certain cases involving marital and domestic relations, real estate, wills, adoptions, defense in small claims court, traffic offenses and non-felony criminal cases, among other things.  The terms and conditions for these services are set forth in the legal services plan documents.  Please call Lauria Law LLC at (215) 461-4610 to determine if you are eligible for representation in a particular case.

There is a long list of services that are not covered by the legal benefit.  A few of the matters excluded from coverage are actions involving the Union or your Employer, disputes with fellow Union members, class action lawsuits, tax return preparation, bankruptcy proceedings, appeals, and services outside Pennsylvania or New Jersey.  Fines, filing fees, expenses and costs are not covered.  Services for the same action are not covered if they occur more than once in any 12-month period.  Additional information about these and other exclusions can be found in the plan documents.

If you are covered by the Fund for your legal matter, you will not need to pay a fee to Lauria Law LLC’s attorneys.  If you are an eligible participant but the particular service you need is not covered under the Fund, Lauria Law LLC’s attorneys may handle it at a discounted hourly rate.  Personal injury litigation, including medical malpractice and catastrophic car accidents, is not a covered service but is handled on a contingent fee basis.  That is, you will not need to pay a fee unless Lauria Law LLC recovers on your behalf.

If you are not covered by the Fund, Lauria Law LLC customarily waives its initial legal consultation fee for UFCW Local 1776 members and offer services at a discounted hourly rate.

You will be responsible for the costs (such as filing fees, postage and photocopying) involved with resolving your matter under the following circumstances: 1) you are eligible for the benefit; 2) you’re not eligible for the benefit; 3) the service is covered; 4) the service is not covered; or 5) Lauria Law LLC does not recover on your behalf.

Cost

If you are covered by the benefit for your legal matter, you will not need to pay a fee to Lauria Law LLC’s attorneys.  You are only required to pay the costs (such as filing fees, postage and photocopying) involved with resolving your matter.

If you are not covered, Lauria Law LLC customarily waives their initial legal consultation fee for UFCW Local 1776 members and offer services at a discounted hourly rate.  Lauria Law LLC personal injury and workers compensation attorneys always work on a contingent fee basis, which means there is no fee for you unless Lauria Law LLC recovers on your behalf.
