Childcare Benefits
It can be difficult to find dependable, affordable child care. To help address your childcare needs, the UFCW Local 1776 and Participating Employers Health & Welfare Fund (“Fund”) provides a childcare benefit (“Childcare”) with both “in-network” and “out-of-network” features. The in-network feature provides Childcare at minimal cost to participants. The Fund pays the majority of the cost. Below is a list of current Childcare centers which are considered as “in-network”.

Note: The terms of the Childcare benefit vary based on the specific benefit plan for which a participant is eligible. Please call the Fund Office for more information.

How to Use the Fund’s Childcare Benefit at Out-of-Network Centers
If it is not convenient for you to use one of the “in-network” Childcare centers, you may use the out-of-network feature of the Childcare benefit by enrolling your child in any center which is licensed by the Department of Public Welfare. If you use an out-of-network center, you will be eligible for reimbursement of up to $10 per child per day, up to 5 days per week.

-
To use an out-of-network Child Care center, the center must first enroll with the Fund Office by providing the Fund with a copy of its certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (or, for other states, the appropriate licensing agency). The center’s current license MUST be on file at the Fund Office in order for you to receive reimbursement for Child Care expenses.
-
You must pay the center directly for the full cost of child care services up front.
-
The Fund Office will supply the approved out-of-network center with monthly attendance sheets for the center to complete (and you to sign) for your child(ren). The center will check off the number of days your child(ren) has(ve) attended, along with a statement as to the amount of tuition you paid to the center for each child listed.
-
After the first day of the following month, the monthly attendance sheet must be signed by you and the center. The center will then submit the attendance sheet to the Fund Office.
-
Once the Fund Office receives a completed attendance sheet, it will be verified and processed for payment of the benefit to you in accordance with the terms of the Plan.
-
The Fund’s out-of-network benefit pays up to $10 per child per day for up to 5 days of child care per week.
-
There is a 90-day claim filing deadline for out-of-network Child Care benefits. If the facility fails to file the attendance sheet by the 90-day deadline, your claim will be denied. Note: It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that the Child Care you utilize submits the monthly attendance sheet by the filing deadline.
