Who Provides the Behavioral Health Network?

The Fund has contracted with Mental Health Consultants, Inc. (“MHC”), to provide a network of behavioral health service providers, managed care and administrative services related to your behavioral health benefit. The network of providers (“MHC Preferred Providers”) provides both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services, including mental health and substance use disorder treatment. In general, benefits under the Fund for covered services provided by MHC Preferred Providers are more generous than benefits for services provided by non-preferred providers.  You will incur lower out-of-pocket costs when you use MHC Preferred Providers.

MHC provides a confidential referral service to help you and your dependents find the appropriate providers for a variety of issues. Call MHC at 1 (215) 343-8987 if you or a dependent needs assistance with an issue relating to behavioral health, such as:

• Drug, alcohol or other substance use disorder

• Psychiatric issues

• Marital, family and other relationship problems

• Grief or loss, catastrophic illness and post-traumatic stress

• Stress-related issues

• Anxiety or depression

• Eating disorders

MHC case managers are available Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A case manager will briefly discuss with you the nature of the problem, evaluate the problem and make a recommendation for treatment or services.

You may be:

• Referred to an MHC Preferred Provider, such as a psychologist, psychiatrist or clinical social worker, located throughout the area.

• Referred to an MHC Preferred Provider for inpatient care.

• Referred to another type of service provider, such as an attorney, physician or financial advisor, depending on the nature of your problem
